What Outfits Should I Bring To A Boudoir Shoot?
There are so many outfits to choose from that it can become overwhelming! Everyone has their own style that suits their personality. Bring them all, I say, and we will pick through them and decide what goes best with what. If you haven’t booked yet, or your shoot is more than a month away. I’ve compiled the most common looks to give you some ideas.
Basic Bra & Panty Set
The simplest outfit is the one you already have, a matching bra and panty set! Let your personality shine with the patterns and colours you choose to display. Everyone has their favourite pair that makes them feel a bit extra spicy that day. You can easily pair them with pretty much anything; heels, skirt, robe, even a big comfy sweater! The only guidance I would suggest is to make sure your bra fits right. Go get properly measured and get one that’s tailor fit just for you, I’m so surprised how many ladies have been wearing the wrong size their whole lives. It will not only look great in photos but it will honestly change your life!
Bodysuits
Bodysuits are so underrated in my opinion. Everyone’s mind always goes to sexy lingerie with lots of lace and frail details but bodysuits are a life saver. They look amazing on everyone! They come in all sorts of fabric and colours, with or without sleeves. They make your legs and bum look great. Body suits are a great option for those who are still learning to love their mid-region, they give great coverage, hug your curves and make you feel more confident. Plus you look like a ballerina
Corsets?
You’ll be surprised to know that I actually do not recommend corsets. They are great for Pinup photography, if that’s the look you are going for. Fun and bubbly. They are classy and glamorous and go great with a pair of stockings when they are properly sized. Properly sized, however means custom, and custom means expensive. For boudoir photography, there are a few reasons why I am not a big fan of them.
-Boudoir is about embracing your body and thinking about it in a positive way, not hiding/squishing it.
-Corsets are uncomfortable, so many poses I will require you to do will be impossible.
-Corsets leave marks that will be visible for the duration of the shoot. (if wearing one, make sure it’s last)
-Corsets take a lot of previous time to put on and take off.
-Improper fitting corsets just squeeze you and give you great cleavage from the front, not so much from the side. So angles are limited.
Don’t get me wrong, when properly fit and for the right occasion, they do look elegant and amazing. As you can see in these beautiful images.
Nude
I know this can be intimidating even if you’re comfortable walking around the house nude regularly, but these are going to be your favourite shots. The thing with all the amazing outfits above is that your modelling them. You are showing off how amazing they look on you but in the end, you are kinda hiding behind them, while they accent this and and put less emphasis on that. Nude photography is timeless because it is independent of fashion. You will look at your photos and think, dam i look like a painting! Nude doesn’t mean you’re going to show off all the bits to the world. It could be a nice silhouette, or implied by hiding all the things that will get us banned from social media. It’s definitely a step outside the comfort zone for most people but the photos will be truly magical! We will use angles and lighting to make you want to print these and hang them on your wall!
Body Jewellery
Don’t want to be completely nude? We got you covered…literally! We have a collection of beautiful ornate body jewellery to cover you with. You will feel glamorous and covered at the same time. If you would like to buy your own, feel free to. Most ladies buy these just for the shoot and let me keep them afterwards! My collection is slowly growing. If you do these, I will throw an incentive. They are truly exquisite!
